PRODUCERS rejoice
It is surprising that more content creators, including streamers and television producers, have not embraced the development of games and apps to connect with their audiences. Some of the most successful projects I have observed stem from producers who leverage these tools.
One such project is the TANKED game the GAME PILL team worked on for Discovery channel that shot up to the top 10 on itunes over the competitive Holiday season.
The benefits are manifold: extending reach, deepening audience engagement, and unlocking new revenue streams.
😂 Enhanced Audience Engagement
Audiences are seeking ways to engage beyond passive watching. Games and apps provide an avenue for fans to immerse themselves in the world of a TV show or brand, offering interactive experiences that extend the narrative or theme of the content. For example, creating a game based on a popular TV travel series allows fans to experience the show’s shooting locations in more depth. This interactivity not only keeps the audience engaged but also fosters a deeper connection to the brand.
📖 Expanded Storytelling
Games and apps provide a platform for expanding the stories and worlds. These digital experiences can explore side stories, delve into character backstories, or even introduce new plotlines that enrich the main narrative. This approach not only adds value for fans but also keeps the content fresh and engaging. For instance, a crime investigation series might release a game where players solve new cases.
🔢 Data-Driven Insights
Apps and games offer producers valuable data on how audiences interact with content. This data includes insights into user preferences, behavior, and engagement patterns. Such information is invaluable for refining content, targeting marketing efforts, and developing future projects or episodes that resonate with viewers. By analyzing in-game choices producers can get insights and learn what their audiences like most, then make more informed business decisions around production.
💹 New Revenue Streams
In-app purchases, advertising, subscription models, and premium content can all generate additional revenue. Games and apps can offer exclusive content or features that fans are willing to pay for, such as additional storylines, character skins, or early access to new episodes. Moreover, collaborations with brands for in-game advertising or sponsorship.
😆 Building a Community
Games and apps often include social features, such as leaderboards, forums, or multiplayer options, that foster a sense of community. This can translate into a loyal fan base that actively promotes the show, shares content, and participates in events.
📺 Staying Relevant
The entertainment industry is highly competitive. By offering games and apps, creators can differentiate their content and offer unique value propositions that attract and retain viewers.
What creator/influencer or television show do you watch that you would love to see a game or app attached to?
